The Bauen Camp, a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit residential camp, began as one person's vision to teach youth how the arts can be used to build social creativity and responsiblity. For 10 years Bauen has brought teen writers, painters, dancers, actors, photographers, storytellers and leaders together to nurture artistic skills, provide mentoring relationships with professional artists, connect them to nature and each other, network diverse peoples of all age, race and region, create "youth-led"  community art collaborations, ask questions about their lives, communities, the world and inspire honest dialogue and creative solutions.

After 10 Years Bauen Camp Closes:

On January 14, 2010, the Board of Directors of The Bauen Camp, Inc., at the recommendation of its’ Executive Director, voted to cease  its’ operations effective December 31, 2010.  No 2010 residential camps will be conducted by the Bauen Camp, Inc, on Pass Creek this summer. The Bauen Camp is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational corporation licensed in Wyoming. The Bauen Camp will still be running a community program (see below) and will incur some expenses. Donations, therefore, are welcome to help defer these costs and are tax deductible.

Bauen Camp, TRVCC and WCTF Host Mentoring Program:

The Board of Directors, however, also approved that The Bauen Camp, Inc, request a project extension from the Wyoming Cultural Trust Fund for the Bauen/TRVCC Collaborative Mentoring Project. WCTF provided the major funds for this Mural and Mentoring Project. WCTF granted the extension. Beginning September 17, 2010 and continuing to December 17, 2010, the Project will provide bi-weekly exceptional art opportunities to 10 area students selected from 2009 summer camp participants.  Local and regional practicing artists from a variety of disciplines will be invited to teach the three-hour workshops, including skill building in painting, drawing, weaving, theater, puppetry, bookmaking, photography and storytelling, with a field trip to a regional theater and museum. Each student will select a Mentor for the Project.  Mentors will attend the workshops, and advocate for and nurture their students.  Friends or relatives interested in service as Mentors (mentors do not have to be artists) or Artists interested in serving as Guest Artists for this Project should contact Jessica Holt at 307 655 9760.
